Not only did pupils imitate the style of each artist and explain their creative process, but also became inspired to adapt the style through their own creativity. For example, when creating a painting inspired by Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, one student opted to exaggerate their mole rather than Kahlo’s typical exaggeration of her unibrow.
Students investigated the history of each artist and their journeys to becoming the renowned artists that they are today. This also played a large part in the creation of their own work – reflecting on their own lives and drawing elements of their life or personality into the artworks.
