Welcome to St Chris

What every parent wants is for their children to do well in life. And that means finding a school that will set them up for their future.

What do they need for that?

Good grades, of course, and as strong an academic attainment as possible. But they need something arguably more important too.
They need a core confidence in themselves as young people, a sense of their own worth and responsibility.

So come and visit St Chris and find out what your children
are capable of.

Virtual Open Day

St Chris at a Glance

St Chris is an independent day and boarding school that welcomes girls and boys from the ages of 3 to 18, located in Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire.

Founded in 1915, we treat young people as individuals, encouraging them to develop into capable, imaginative, responsible people with a zest for life.

On one of the hottest days of the academic year, the Junior School gathering took place on the Junior School lawn this last term. ☀️From Abba songs to musical masterpieces from Lion King, each class stepped up to perform their chosen song. Some students even performed as part of the Gospel Choir or stepped up to perform solos in their pieces! Well done everyone. ... See MoreSee Less

Meet Nikki Timbers 👋Nikki has been dubbed one of St Chris' 'unsung heroes' and has been with us for two years.Organising examinations is a not only a colossal effort, it's a fast-paced cycle that repeats itself with each academic year. In the lead-up to exam season, Nikki's time is spent invested into organising rooms for the examinations to take place in, supporting students, and ensuring each examination experience is thoroughly organised from top to bottom.Nikki said: "What I do could not be possible without the help of the invigilation team. They are fantastic, they build up brilliant rapports with the students and they are so willing to help me out during mock exam and exam seasons. I could not do my job without them".It is no surprise that Nikki worked in the police force for fifteen years, answering emergency calls and then progressing to dispatching resources in the control room, and is well equipped to work under pressure. Before arriving at St Chris, Nikki was an Exams Officer at Meridian School in Royston before moving to King James Academy. We have been told that Nikki makes many sacrifices for our students; she is known to give up her time at the weekend to ensure the exam papers are organised, rooms are set up, and everything is in order. Of course, this is one of the role's challenges, "I'm under constant time restraints, and the turnaround before afternoon exams in particular is very quick. Organising rooms can also be quite tricky, and students often face last-minute nerves as they draw closer to sitting their exams. Even though I've been running around like a headless chicken, when I turn up to an exam room I know I have to be calm and present for the students".While packing and organising exam papers, Nikki reminisced about when she joined the team: "When I came to St Chris, I felt like I was coming home. It's the first place that I feel that I belong, and that's across all of my career history. It's amazing. I love it. There's so many supportive people here and everyone wants to jump in and help out".With Results Days fast approaching, continue to believe in your ability. We are sure all of your hard work will pay off! ... See MoreSee Less
