The St Chris PE Department aims to give every child the chance to enjoy a carousel of sporting, creative and fitness activities.
We focus on inclusivity and fitness, and the benefits of sport’s wider impact on a child’s development in terms of teamwork, resilience, well-being, and leadership.
Teaching ensures students are teamed with other similarly experienced students for Games; students are also all taught in mixed-gender groups so that they have access to a broad range of sports, and are not funnelled based on gender.
In lessons, a year group will develop performances in team sports such as rugby, football and netball as well as improving in racket sports, aesthetic activities (dance, gymnastics) and experiencing different methods to improve fitness, alongside weekly swimming lessons in our on-site indoor pool.
Students also take part in associated fixtures in sports such as netball, football, swimming, basketball, cricket and more. Parents will be informed about team selection and are asked for consent via Evolve.
All students from Nursery (Monte) to Year 2 (H group) have two lessons of PE and one swimming lesson per week. Students from Year 3 (G Group) to Year 6 (D Group) have one lesson of PE, one lesson of games and one swimming lesson per week.
All students are expected to attend their lessons with the correct kit. Please see the section on Equipment below for further information.
