Welcome To The Nursery
Welcome to the Nursery
Hello from Chrissie Parry & Kelly Wailes, the St Chris Nursery Teachers.
Hi, we are Chrissie and Kelly, Nursery Teachers here at St Chris, and we are delighted to introduce you to our warm and nurturing pre-school environment! Nestled at the heart of the Junior School and set within the School's 25-acre campus in Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire, our Nursery is a place of boundless exploration, unbridled creativity, and holistic child development.
The Monte is where learning comes to life for boys and girls aged between rising 3 and 4. The love of learning our children develop means that most choose to progress onto the St Chris Junior School to continue their school journey.
Inside Learning Space |
---|
Our Nursery is set across several free-flow bright and colourful rooms. All resources are fully accessible for independent use. Each room has a table and low level interactive surfaces with plenty of floor space to interact with peers and take part in self-led play. |
Outside Learning Space |
The St Chris Nursery has a dedicated enclosed garden with a sandpit, veggie patch and large-scale play equipment, an age-appropriate climbing frame, slide and a tree swing. Our youngest learners can often be seen jetting around outside on their bikes. |
At St Chris, we affectionately call our Nursery "Monte" as an homage to our Montessori roots. While we no longer follow the Montessori approach, our philosophy of child-centred learning and play remains at the heart of everything we do.

A Place for Early Explorers
Our Nursery is a place where children grow in confidence, develop a love of learning, nurture their emotional intelligence, develop social skills, make lasting friendships, and have heaps of fun. Children have open access to both indoor and outdoor learning areas, where they engage in both child-initiated activities and adult-led sessions. At St Chris, we embrace an open play environment that encourages hands-on exploration and creative learning.

In the spirit of fostering a love for learning from a young age, our curriculum focuses on exploratory and educational play for 3- and 4-year-olds. The St Chris Nursery combines traditional values with modern approaches to early years education. This balanced approach nurtures cognitive skills, social intelligence, and emotional well-being, and ultimately helps our youngest learners develop a fundamental understanding of the world around them.

A Place to Be Yourself
We encourage children to explore their individual interests and ideas, enabling them to be their authentic selves. Because of this, children are a huge part of our decision-making process and inform the curriculum, giving us the flexibility to develop topics based on each child’s unique interests.
We invite you to visit our community and explore the exciting possibilities that can be realised in your child's educational journey with us!
