Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided for boarders in the Dining Hall which you will sometimes hear called the “IG” (which is short for Indoor Gym as that is what it used to be!).
Fresh fruit and snacks are provided within the boarding accommodation. Fruit is always available in the Boarding House and students may take it to School if they wish.
St Chris has traditionally been a vegetarian school, and during the day (between 8.00am and 4.00pm) the consumption of meat and fish is still not allowed. Lunch within the School is a vegetarian meal. No nut or sesame products are permitted in school.
For boarders, meat or fish options are available at both breakfast and dinner, and meat or fish can be consumed within the Boarding House after 4.00pm. Meat or fish options are available at all weekend meals.
Special Medical Diet and Allergies
If students have a specific dietary requirement or allergies, these can be catered for by our catering team in line with medical and parental advice.
Boarders in all year groups have access to a kitchen to make snacks such as popcorn or toast. There is limited storage available in the kitchen and food and drink is discouraged in students’ rooms.
We also hold regular cookery evenings for boarders in the school’s “Vege Centre” (where school cookery lessons take place) and hold events to encourage our boarding community to celebrate and share food from their culture and we celebrate special cultural and religious festivals together as a Boarding House.
Takeaways
Any takeaway meals ordered by boarders must be nut-free and not delivered or consumed during Prep time. All hot food is to be consumed in the main communal areas and not in bedrooms.
