St Chris has a warm and welcoming Individual Needs Department who go the extra mile to support our students, whether they have significant long-term needs or short-term difficulties which are presenting a barrier to their learning.
All students are equally valued and St Chris has an inclusive environment in which diversity is recognised and regarded positively.
Students are individually monitored, and assessed where required, enabling provision to be put in place where needed to mitigate any barriers ensuring equity for all learners.
We work directly with Sixth Form students to plan the best intervention for them. This could include ad hoc "check in" appointments with a SEND specialist, study skills and revision groups, or more bespoke and regular 1:1 sessions. We collaborate with students to allow them to develop their own strategies for study, and teach them to advocate for themselves ready for their next stages of learning.
SEND provision is directed by subject teacher knowledge, academic tracking and progress assessments, and the in-depth pastoral knowledge of the Company Adviser.
There is a full handover between the Admissions Department (for new students) or the Head of Year (for V Group students) and the Senior School Individual Needs and Pastoral Care Departments during the Summer Term.
In the Sixth Form, Kirsten Rockey, the Senior School SENCO, leads the Individual Needs team on all day-to-day matters, and is your first port of call for any enquiries. Kirsten can be contacted via email: individualneeds@stchris.co.uk
