A MESSAGE FROM
Jenny Savage,
Assistant Head (Sixth Form)
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the St Christopher School Sixth Form. We are delighted that you are joining us, and hope that you are excited to begin your time here.
The next two years will be transformational, as you begin specialising in your subjects and planning your ‘next steps’ journey beyond school. We believe that you will thrive during this time, and we are committed to nurturing your individual strengths and aspirations.
Our aim is for you to make the most of the stimulating and diverse opportunities on offer, so you lay strong foundations for success in your future life, be it at university, in an apprenticeship, in the world of work and beyond. We are a relaxed, positive, and purposeful community that places relationships and support at the heart of all we do. Being small, we have a close-knit, family feel where honesty and personalised support are central to our interactions. Furthermore, through a range of co-curricular activities, we encourage you to develop curiosity, kindness, courage, and a focus on service to others.
Life in the Sixth Form differs from the St Chris Senior School or your previous school experience, and you will enjoy unique experiences, opportunities, and responsibilities. Your GCSEs have provided a solid foundation for entering the Sixth Form, however the step up to this next stage of study requires you to develop the skills to be independent, creative, self-reflective, and a critical thinker.
As an experienced Sixth Form team, we endeavour to assist and support you through every challenge, as you begin to develop into a truly independent learner. At times, you will need reassurance or guidance, so there are a wide range of people to support you; from Personal Tutors who will greet you daily and academically mentor you each week, to the Sixth Form team who are present in the Sixth Form Centre and available to talk. As a result, students find that within a few weeks they start to feel at home in the Sixth Form community, as they become familiar with their courses, teachers, new friends, and wider Sixth Form life.
We have high expectations for you and we hope, in turn, that you aspire to fulfil your individual potential. This is a time in your life where great opportunities are available to you, and we encourage you to seize them.
We look forward to getting to know and support you during the next two years of your educational journey.
